Singh and Ishita Goyal, our research has confirmed that we have created a highly efficient catalytic system to convert surplus renewable energy into liquid ammonia. This breakthrough technology uses only water, air, and renewable electricity, making it a highly energy-efficient way to store renewable power.

Existing solutions, like batteries and expensive transmission lines, aren’t enough. The Ammonia Energy Association says, regarding Ammonia's potential: "When considering ammonia as a fuel, the first concern is not whether ammonia could be a good fuel (which it is), nor whether we have the necessary technologies to create or combust the fuel (which we do), nor whether infrastructure could be expanded to sufficient scale (which it can). . . This is not an engineering challenge, or an investment challenge, or even a safety challenge; this is a perception of safety challenge."

Why Hydrogen? Why Ammonia?

Hydrogen is a promising carbon-free fuel but has significant barriers, including its volatility, low density, and the need for specialized storage and infrastructure. These challenges make it difficult for hydrogen to be widely adopted. In contrast, ammonia is a safer, more practical solution as it is much easier and more cost-effective to transport and store. Our low-cost ammonia production technology will help overcome the barriers that have limited hydrogen’s adoption.
